O Dispeller of poverty, pain and fear! which goddess other than you has an ever sympathetic heart for helping everyone?
~ Sri Devimahatmyam (Chandi) 4.17
During our visits to the schools catering to the poorer sections, we have observed that many do not have even the bare minimum infrastructure – adequate buildings, seating arrangements, toilets, etc. – or that the existing infrastructure is in a very bad shape, urgently requiring repair. The poor students undergo a lot of hardships in their quest for an education. The situation is also quite bad as many students altogether stop coming to the schools due to a variety of reasons.
It is felt that at the minimum, support can be offered to improve the infrastructure facilities of a school so that classes can be held in the premises without undue hardships to the students and teachers.
We have listed some of the schools and their requirements (click here for details). This list is by no means comprehensive. These are the ones that require immediate help. It is almost impossible for the government to provide the required help to all of these schools, and that too immediately.

The Ashrama wishes to raise funds from well-meaning individuals and organizations towards providing financial support for these requirements of these schools. A qualified team of engineers and construction personnel have evaluated the needs and will qualify the repair and construction work to be undertaken to vouch for their quality.

Ganesh Utsav was celebrated for 4 days from August 27th to 30th, 2006 in the Ashrama in keeping with the local tradition. Lord Ganesha being the destroyer of all obstacles was worshiped with shraddha and devotion praying Him to remove all hurdles in our endeavours. The programme consisted of daily special puja, offering amidst Vedic chanting and Bhajans. On the last day the image of Lord Ganesha was taken in a colorful procession around the Ashrama and was immersed in water towards the end. (Visarjana)
Sri Ramakrishna on Lord Ganesh:
“Everything can be realized simply through love of God. If one is able to love God, one does not lack anything. Kartika and Ganesa were seated near Bhagavati, who had a necklace of gems around Her neck. The Divine Mother said to them, ‘I will present this necklace to him who is the first to go around the universe.’ Thereupon Kartika, without losing a moment, set out on the peacock, his carrier. Ganesa, on the other hand, in a leisurely fashion went around the Divine Mother and prostrated himself before Her. He knew that She contained within Herself the entire universe. The Divine Mother was pleased with him and put the necklace around his neck. After a long while Kartika returned and found his brother seated there with the necklace on.”
